Interact with New People

One of the quickest ways to develop your mindset is the willingness to interact with new people. While you are at it, keep in mind that you can learn something new from every person you meet. Note that you can only gain something insightful if you approach someone with an open mind; you want to learn, to understand — not to judge someone else. Also, engaging people you have not known before will cultivate your creativity and contentment.

Try One New Thing

Self development on mindset means personal growth, so do not miss out the chance to be a better version of yourself! Trying new things every day will expand your knowledge and sense of adventure. Most importantly, it leads you to think that the setbacks you encounter are challenges, not problems that burden you. Therefore, you will be eager to overcome them rather than mope about it.

If you try to do at least one thing every day, chances are you will find out new hobbies that you enjoy, or something that you are surprisingly good at. Maybe you discover that you are a green thumb, or good at baking. When this happens, you can continue to develop your newly acquired ability into something wonderful. Sometimes, you fail again and again in every personal aspect you have. Maybe you fail your exam while simultaneously do a bad job in an event. Or perhaps you missed a part of an important scene when you became and actor, then you had a fight with your loved one. These kinds of failure certainly discourage you to try again.

Unlike other self development tips, we will not tell you to suck it up and keep going. No, this is unlikely to happen unless you are a robot without negative feelings. Even if you read thousands of advice saying “do not dwell on failure”, it is still the last thing you want to do. It is perfectly okay to mope; that is what makes us human.

Do not forget to take care of yourself, and most importantly, take your time to deal with failure. You probably have already beat yourself up over it, listing every possible alternate things you should have done. Try to constantly encourage yourself: stating simple things you can do to improve the situation.

Praise Your Effort

This is important to nudge your mindset into a growth mindset. Instead of praising yourself as a “smart person” or “good cook”, change into phrases that compliment your effort and push you to do better next time. With that, you know that you can do anything as long as you put your effort into it.
