Everyone has different behaviors in dealing with a thing or problem. That behavior is based on mindset. A good or positive mindset will have an impact on how to live a positive life as well, minimizing stress, and having a good impact on health. This is different from a bad or negative mindset; a negative mindset will bring the person’s behavior to be negative as well and harm the level of stress and health. Therefore, self-development on mindset is very important for us for survival.

Fixed mindset and growth mindset

In the concept of mindset development, it is necessary to first understand the basic mindset, namely the fixed mindset and growth mindset. The fixed mindset is a mindset concept that makes someone believe that his ability is something that is fixed and cannot be changed anymore. People with the concept of mindset like this are usually people who already have certain talents and expertise, but they don’t want to develop them because they feel they are sufficient or at the maximum level or limit themselves due to a cause. People with a fixed mindset type usually think that their talents and expertise are enough to bring them to success. They do not believe in the name of an “effort” to get success.

An example of this fixed mindset is “I’m a very shy person. Therefore if I am told to speak in front of a crowd then that is not possible. I must be nervous. ” Even though the person can speak very well. However, because he/she limits himself “he/she is shy then it is not possible to speak in public”, that ability becomes useless and does not develop.

On the other hand, there is the concept of the growth mindset. A growth mindset is a concept of mindset where someone has a belief that their talents and abilities can continue to develop over time and the experience gained. Slightly contrary to the fixed mindset, the concept of growth mindset believes that an “effort” can bring them closer to success; because it also develops their talents and expertise to achieve something. An example is a child who studies and continues to study to get rank 1 in class and get the university that she/he wants.

The importance of changing the mindset

You could say the fixed mindset is a type of mindset that is not good because this mindset concept confines a person’s abilities and makes them not, even difficult, develop. One of the abilities and mindset that is needed in this era is the ability to always learn and keep learning, and to continue to develop because the times also continue to develop. Therefore, the type of growth mindset must be the type of mindset that is owned and developed by everyone. The concept of self-development on mindset becomes important.

Based on this, a fixed mindset is a mindset concept that is difficult to bring yourself in a positive direction. With a mindset that everything in you cannot be changed anymore, then later in the future, you will find it difficult to adapt. Difficulty adapting to the environment will make your mind will become more negative and lead to depression. Unlike the concept of growth mindset where you think that “I can still develop, I can still change for the better”. This positive and optimistic thought will be able to make you, consciously and unconsciously, discover new talents and skills and develop talents and expertise that you already have before. Self-development on mindset is the key thing you should do.
